Bears Dasha and lelya
The two female brown bears came to our sanctuary in October 2019
Dasha and Lelya are two female sisters, born in 2005, who were kept together in a concrete cage as a tourist attraction in front of a hotel restaurant in Skole, Lviv region in Ukraine. When the hotel and restaurant recently closed, the owners agreed to relinquish the bears to BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr.

Since arriving at the sanctuary, both bears are active most of the day and one of their main activities recently is digging. They are very busy at the moment doing so and it seems to be their favourite 'job'.
Their heath condition is good, and they have already gained some weight, so the onsite team hopes that they'll hibernate sooner this year. Last year they both hibernated for about a month from January to February.
